One of the main objectives of FIBREE is to share and disseminate knowledge and insights gained by the various experts and scientific researchers in our global network. It is worldwide in high demand from both the supply and demand sides. To meet this need of the market, FIBREE regularly collaborates with event organisations to bring the topic of blockchain or web3 for real estate to the public's attention. Below are some examples of this and some key lessons learned.
But first let us have a look at our upcoming three-day Global Blockchain & Real Estate Summit which will take place online from 26 to 28 September 2023.

Blockchain-Real, Vienna
Figure 3: Blockchain REAL Mainstage 2019
Since its inception in 2018, the blockchain-REAL, co-organised by FIBREE roughly every 18 months in Vienna, has been a significant platform for showcasing recent developments in blockchain and real estate's regulatory and technical spaces. Meeting in person at the first Blockchain-Real event back in 2018, it inspired the founding members to incept FIBREE as a global organization.
Later, the conference also hosted two FIBREE world summits (sponsored by element36.io), enabling gatherings of FIBREE members in Vienna. Thus, the conference has brought together experts, entrepreneurs, and innovators to share insights, exchange ideas, and explore the intersection of blockchain technology and the real estate industry. As we reflect on the learning points from the conference, we can glean valuable insights that have emerged from the event and its impact on the industry.
As technology continues to disrupt traditional processes in the real estate sector, regulatory frameworks had to adapt to keep up. The conference provides each time a platform for experts to discuss and analyse the latest regulatory developments, including legal frameworks, compliance requirements and licensing considerations. This helps participants stay abreast of changing regulations, understand the implications for their business and navigate the legal complexities associated with blockchain and real estate.
The conference has always focused on real use cases in the field of blockchain and real estate, with a particular emphasis on Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. The main topics were the tokenization of real estate (e.g. Black Manta, Chromaway, SolidBlock) on the primary market and, recently also, the secondary market for buying and selling tokens (e.g. Blocksquare, Brickwise, Crowdlitoken).
Walter Strametz, co-founder and vice-president of FIBREE has always been the driving force behind organizing this event in partnership with Linde Verlag, a specialist publisher for law, economics and taxation. In this way, Blockchain-Real has, over the years, managed to share many lessons learned with the market. And that is an outstanding achievement of this ‘grand old lady’ among blockchain and real estate events, for which we owe the organisers many thanks. This event can rightly be called one of the world’s pioneers, and FIBREE is proud to partner with it!

Brazil: Blockchain AI Real estate Summit
Figure 2: Panel discussion at Blockchain AI Real estate Summit in Cubo Itaú
In Brazil, a specific blockchain for real estate event is now organised annually in collaboration with FIBREE.
The 2nd edition of the Blockchain AI Real estate Summit in Cubo Itaú took place on 17 June 2023 and was attended by professionals and entrepreneurs who are applying blockchain technology and AI to transform the real estate market into a more democratic business environment, providing more liquidity and reducing the inefficiencies that make real estate transactions so expensive and lengthy. More than 25 speakers, including several FIBREE corporate members, shared their views or participated in panel sessions this year on topics such as tokenisation of real estate and bonds, real estate transactions, Artificial Intelligence applications in real estate, Metaverse, Web3 and more.
Compliments to our board director Rubens Neistein and regional chair Jeison Quraitem and the rest of the team for organising this. The main conclusions are that by organising this event, the topic of blockchain and real estate is much more discussed in real estate practice, at the same time it is an important incentive for startups to see how other companies know their way around the sometimes-unruly environment they face. Already at its second edition, the companies presenting there are experiencing it as one of the most important venues in the year to showcase themselves to the Brazilian market.

Regulatory lessons learned from these events
One of the key learning points of the long-standing partnership with Blockchain-Real was the changing regulatory landscape in the field of blockchain and real estate. From 2018 to today, there have been significant developments:
- One such milestone was the end of the "ICO mania" era when the hype around initial coin offerings (ICOs) waned and the need for regulatory frameworks became clear. This marked a maturity phase for the blockchain and real estate sectors, where regulators and policymakers recognised the importance of creating an enabling environment for innovation and growth. Switzerland and Liechtenstein emerged as early adopters of business-friendly regulations, providing a supportive ecosystem for blockchain and real estate startups to thrive. As an exponent of this, Swiss regulator FINMA granted new banking licences to two "crypto banks" (Sygnum, Seba) in 2019, which strongly signals that digital assets will be part of future finance.
- In addition, the European Union (EU) has also been proactive in regulating the blockchain and cryptocurrency space. The most recent development in this regard is introducing the Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) framework, which aims to create a harmonised regulatory regime for cryptocurrencies and digital assets across EU member states.
These developments have brought more clarity and consistency to the regulatory landscape, encouraging firms to operate within a regulated framework and boosting investor confidence.
General learning points
One of the unique features of these conferences is the platform where startups can present their business cases. Over the years, over 100 startups have taken advantage of this opportunity through FIBREE to show their innovative ideas and business models. Some of these startups have grown into successful companies, testifying to the impact and value of such conferences in fostering entrepreneurship and innovation in the blockchain real estate ecosystem. The conferences help these startups gain visibility by collaborating with local media, connecting with potential investors, partners and customers, and accelerating their growth trajectory.
Looking back at the learning points from the conferences co-organised by FIBREE, we see that this has been a crucial part of FIBREE's mission to showcase recent developments in regulatory and technical aspects of blockchain and real estate. The conferences have provided insights into the changing regulatory landscape, technological advances, real use cases and opportunities for startups in the field. They have formed an international community of professionals and stakeholders interested in the intersection of blockchain and real estate and enabled meaningful connections, collaborations and partnerships.
Connect your event with FIBREE as your content partner
FIBREE will continue to work emphatically as a content provider with organisers of such types of events in the future so that our niche market, can continue to develop and grow and in the not-too-distant future, be ready to play an important role in shaping the future web3 digital real estate ecosystem.
For the very first pioneer in this field, Walter Strametz, one wish will come true when as many other FIBREE members as possible will also repeat this success on different continents. He is happy to offer his cooperation to that end. All requests for sharing experiences and resources based on FIBREE's values and ambition to advance the community in blockchain and real estate are welcome!
